When to install MySQL

Although optional, the installation and configuration of MySQL as an alternate data provider is recommended as it provides the following benefits:

  1. Use of multiple transformation servers
  2. Significantly better performance

Note: If you would prefer to install MySQL in Ubuntu, please consult the Installation - MySQL (Ubuntu) documentation.

Install MySQL Using the AppBridge Automated Installer

The AppBridge MySQL installer automatically configures all required MySQL parameters, creates custom locations for the MySQL data directory and options file, optimizes MySQL settings, and creates necessary firewall rules.

Caution: The AppBridge MySQL installer will only function correctly if there is no existing MySQL installation or MySQL data on the local server. If you are re-installing MySQL, please ensure that MySQL is uninstalled, and the existing MySQL data directory is removed prior to running the installer.

  1. Download the latest AppBridge MySQL Installer from www.appbridge.it/#/download.

  2. Run the Installer as an administrator.

  3. Choose how MySQL will be used on the server.  This determines how resources are allocated to MySQL; the installer will automatically optimize MySQL resources based on this setting. The options available are:

This server is dedicated to running MySQLChoose this setting when only MySQL will be installed on the server. MySQL will consume the maximum amount of RAM.
This server will run both MySQL and MongoDBChoose this setting when both MySQL and MongoDB will be installed. MySQL will use a medium amount of RAM.
This server will run both MySQL and the AppBridge PlatformChoose this setting when MySQL will be installed alongside the AppBridge Platform. MySQL will use the lowest amount of RAM.

  4. Set the MySQL root password. **Store this password securely**

  5. Create an AppBridge admin user and password.  The AppBridge service will access the MySQL database as this admin user.

  6. Choose a location for the MySQL configuration file (options file).  The options file will be automatically optimized by this installer but MySQL parameters can be manually adjusted by editing this file.

  7.  Choose a location for the MySQL data directory.

The data directory is where MySQL stores all database information, and can grow quickly. Please ensure the disk that the data directory is placed on has sufficient space as detailed in the Installation - Preparation section

  8. Complete the installation.
